A Guide to your Routine Skincare Regime

The sun is at its scorching best which means your skin could be at its worst if you don't take good care of it.

10 Skincare tips for the summer

1.  Stay hydrated – Drink ample fluids as your body tends to lose moisture in summer. Carry water wherever you can, it keeps your skin moisturised and also cleanses your body to give it a natural glow.
2.   Sun Protection – Scientists say skin exposure for over 60 seconds can harm your skin. Sunscreen is a must whenever you step out. Apply sunscreen 20-30 minutes before stepping out. For Indian skin types SPF 30 or above is advised according to the skin type. Avoid going out between 11 am to 3 pm as the UV rays are strongest at this time. 3.   Moisturize – Go for a water-based moisturiser if you find your skin becoming too oily in summers but do not ditch the habit of everyday moisturizing.
4.   Toning – It is important to keep the skin pores closed as they tend to open due to sweating. Or use Rose water instead as it has natural cooling properties.

5.     Exfoliate – Summers are when you just can not miss exfoliating. It removes dead skin and improves blood circulation to the face. Do it 2-3 times a week. Buy a scrub that suits your skin type and texture the best.
6.   Cool your skin – Home made face packs made with ingredients like cucumber, Fuller's earth (multani mitti), papaya, lemon etc work wonders for the skin.

Bonus tip. Eat healthy, exercise and sleep well!
